Pear-Shaped Body
This shape is usually distinguished by hips which are broader than the bust and
shoulders. Key elements to incorporate when styling this shape are to accentuate
the upper body amd to keep to solid hues on the bottom. So stick to lighter colors on top
and darker hues below. A-line cut dresses are most becoming, as well as adding
definition to the waist for the pear-shaped figure.
Rectanglular- Shaped Body
This shape is generally defined with the bust, waist and hip measurements being
almost identical. While this body type does not possess many curves it is one of
harmonious proportions, that appear like a rectangle. Important details to keep in
mind when styling are to wear well structured, shapely clothing to add depth, as
well as dimension. Experimenting with various textures and prints is sure to flatter
the Rectangle shaped figure.
Apple-Shaped Figure
This body type is generally described as having a large bust, hips that are narrow and
an ample midsection with very little waist defining qualities. The key is to dress in ways
in which to show off your best features and downplay other parts of the body.
Accentuating the upper body by wearing unique sleeves, yet slimming the mid section
with flowing fabric is sure to flatter the Apple shaped figure.
Inverted Triangle Body Shape
This specific body type comes with the characteristics of having strong shoulders that are clearly larger than the hips with little to no waist definition. To flatter this body shape it is best to emphasize the bottom half of the body, as to downplay the upper body by choosing clothing that adds volume to the hips and subdues the neckline while including waist-defining elements to the Inverted triangle-shaped figure.
The Hour-Glass Figure
The hourglass-shaped body is one that typically possesses almost identical bust and hip measurements with a narrow, defined waist. The trick to dressing this already balanced body type is to follow the natural lines of a curvaceous frame by not making one top or bottom heavy and keeping the shape harmonious. You don’t want to wear loose, baggy clothing that hides your body. Instead, choose pieces to show off and accentuate your curves of an hourglass shaped figure.
